The t-shirt and blazer, the essential items in the wardrobe of 67% of women

According to a survey conducted by the minimalist clothing company NU-REVEL on “The life cycle of clothing”.

42% of respondents say they donate clothes when they don’t like them or no longer use them and 32% give them to their friends.

Having so many clothes in the closet that you don’t know what to choose or having too many clothes even with the tag on. It sounds like a cliché, but the reality is that these situations occur more frequently than we think. This was revealed in part 1 of the survey “The life cycle of clothing” conducted by the minimalist clothing company NU-REVEL. A survey that shows women’s clothing consumption habits, garment use or average spending.

As the NU-REVEL partners point out, “these results help us to know a little more about the habits and needs of today’s women, to provide them with solutions and garments suitable for each of them”.

The basics are never lacking

Whether you have a giant dressing room or a more modest wardrobe, there is something that doesn’t change for most of the women surveyed when choosing a type of garment. The t-shirt and blazer become indispensable for 67% of them.

Also, when it comes to tastes, most of them (90%) opt for neutral colors such as white or black. “We like the sobriety, elegance and simplicity that these colors convey when you think of an outfit, whether it is more casual or more organized”, highlighted by the company NU-REVEL. This is proven as only 10% take risks with bright colors.

Another type of garment that never hurts are reversible ones, however 70% say they have none. In this respect, the women surveyed are willing to introduce these products into their closet, as they allow for multiple items in one, according to 55%.

The life cycle of the garments: more than one year

The life cycle of a garment can be very long or very short, it always depends on its owner. In this sense, 56% of people surveyed believe that this cycle lasts more than 365 days, while 36% think it is only a year. This is because 65% of women say they keep their clothes until they break, although 35% say they keep them until they go out of style.

But… What to do when a garment is no longer in fashion? Fashions come and go and, if we don’t like something anymore, we have to think about giving it a second chance. In fact, 42% of respondents say they donate clothes when they no longer like them or use them, and 32% give them to their friends. “There is nothing better than inheriting a garment from a friend or relative, they are garments with a history behind them,” they said.

In short, as the members of NU-REVEL underline, “we have to look for fashion solutions that fit us well, that allow us to create different looks and with which we feel beautiful and at ease. We have to find a balance between the quantity of garments and the quality. If we stop to analyze our wardrobe, we will surely learn a lot “.
