EXHIBITIONS

The “Re” exhibition that opens on Friday, April 22 at the Palazzo Reale (Sale Duca di Montalto) brings to Palermo the works of some of the greatest exponents of contemporary art in the world. Sixteen great contemporary artists symbolize sixteen paths to open reflection on reality: Alberto Burri, Saint Clair Cemin, Tony Cragg, Zhang Hong Mei, Anselm Kiefer, Jeff Koons, Sol LeWitt, Emil Lukas, Mimmo Paladino, Claudio Parmiggiani, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Tania Pistone, Andrés Serrano, Ai Wewei and Gilberto Zorio.

The Sant’Elia Foundation inaugurates Rafael Yossef Herman’s personal exhibition dedicated to the environmental issue of light pollution in the building of the same name in via Maqueda “Esse”. Inspired by Sicily, the exhibition is represented by an inverted S almost to evoke the infinity sign described by Hermancome as “incomplete infinity”. Curated personally by the artist, “Esse” is installed in the twelve rooms of the noble floor of the Sant’Elia Palace and will be an evolving event, radically different from the inauguration at the end. With a call for ideas launched by the artist and the Sant’Elia Foundation, the exhibition will be enriched with new works created in places uncontaminated by light, suggested by the public.

The Messina company made up of the “signature” Spiro Scimone and Francesco Sframeli presents one of its most successful texts that has drawn it to the attention of the general public in Italy and in Europe as one of the best proposing a new dramaturgy. “IL patio” is a very true and at the same time completely surreal text. The protagonists live among old motorcycles and garbage in a dump worthy of some desolate suburb of the poorest cities. They are racked with physical decay and suffer from a kind of melancholy at best.
